I bought six Digitrax decoders and two of them do not work. I looked on thier website for a resolution and I will have to write a check for $17 each with the decoder and if there is a repair to be done they cash it. I know they will need repair.
Then I went to the NCE wabsite and they have an pffer that if you send them another manufacturers decoder they will replace it with one of theirs no questions asked.
Are NCE dacoders better or equevilant to the Digitrax?
Seems like it would be easier to send them to NCE.
call digitrax, if the decoders are bad out of the box they will replace them for free, If you screwed them up then the replacement is $17, but CALL
them first! many times they will wave the fee.

Special Offer
send in any damaged HO/N decoder along with $10 + $2 P&H for replacement with NCE decoder.
does not say if they will replace six function with six function, or with a two function, my bet would be a two function, not such a good deal. $17 for new six function vs. $12 for a two function.
This is one of the major reasons I use TCS and Lenz decoders. One year no questions asked!
Their warranties are the best!
Not trying to flame anyone just my opinion.
Take the decoder back to where you purchased it for a replacement. Or has been stated above call (don’t e-mail call) Digitrax to get it resolved. OOB failures are covered by the warranty and will be replaced for free. Just make sure you have appropriate documentation for when and where you purchased them.
To add to simon1966’s statement, Digitrax may walk you through some things to try before sending the decoders back. In many cases resetting the decoder (CV8=8) will resolve the issue. I have found their tech support to be very friendly and helpful.
I sent NCE a half dozen decoders a week ago, 2 under warranty and 4 under the 10 buck replacement deal. 2 DH121, 1 DH83 and an ATL-4. My understanding was that I would get the NCE replacement decoder closest to the decoder I sent in. I’ll let you know what I got when they return.
John - I am sure you know what you are doing but I have to ask. The newer Digitrax decoders have a lock function. CV15/16 I had one kick my butt the other day unitl I realized I had somehow accidently locked it. Of course if they don’t work at all then this is not the case but I had to throw it out there anyway.
