Can anyone tell me if decoders have to be matched with the system they are run on. For example will a Digitrax decoder work on a MRC Prodigy system?
I asked that question recently. in short, yes, yes it will. all decoders are made to work with eachother, as are NMRA standards.

Most will work,some may not work well with the newer Bachman PC boards unless you cut a lead on the decoders on the PC board, Check Bachmans website. I have Digitrax & have used Train Control, Digitrax ,Lentz & NCE all work well.
Big mistake… Should have said…cut a lead on the capacitors on the PC board SORRY
