decorative moss

Has anyone ever used or heard of “decorative moss” I found a bag of this at a craft store it says on the bag that its for making wreaths, covering styofoam bases, floral arrangements. It seems to be dry and I think it would make good brush and small trees but only if it’s going to stand the test of time.
the bags says its from Waldron, AR.
any advice will help.
thank you

If it’s anything like natural lichen, it will dry out and crumble over time. One way to preserve it is to coat it or soak it with glycerine.

I know what your talking about. Spanish moss, this stuff grows everywhere, at least where I live Beaufort ,SC. If you stand in one place to long it will grow on you to LOL. I won’t use spanish moss on my layout, simply because its stringy and hard to work with. Besides, you can find anything you need at your local hobby shop. One more thing,if you do deciede to purchase that bug riddin spanish moss,be sure to spray it with bug spray. So your wife or girlfriend doesn’t freak out, when she see a little bug…Patrick

I don’t think that it is Spanish Moss, but I tried it in a few places on my layout and it doesn’t look right so I guess it’s back to the drawing board.
I’m looking to make a forest floor look a little better than just ground foam.

The forest floor is what I like best about my layout. I used tobacco. I grew it myself, for old times sake, I grew up in the small area of Ohio that grows it commercially. Tobacco is a natural insecticide but you should be able to get the same effect with any leaf.

There is a picture on my web page, about half way down. It took some time, I had to mist the area with dilute white glue then sprinkle on the ground leaf several times to build it up to the effect I wanted. On my first try I ended up with a soggy mess.
