Defect Detectors

Does anyone know the radio frequency for the Defect Detectors on the Albany-Binghamton line on the D&H (CP Rail) and the ones on the CSX line in the Amsterdam NY area. Thank you.

180.000 is most popular for CSX for CP Rail 161.450 I
belive

Make that 160.800. That’s what’s in use at Syracuse on the Chicago Line.

Yea, can’t be 180, thats the frequency of the visual carrier for TV channel 8.

Yea I ment 160.800 [banghead][D)][D)][D)] well anyway
you will probibly still hear the old Conrail Defect Dectectors
thats what I get[8D]

It helps to have a good antenna and a better receiver to pick up “talkers” since, the crews of long trains miss them, since they are often low power units. The Dispatchers will (if they want to do it) will tell the train they are OK, and (if needed) give the talker a reply, which if not given, will result in a stop board at the next signal. If you want to hear the detectors on the old D&H, well… they only call if they find something wrong. Perhaps CP has changed how they work, as I haven’t been around the old D&H in a while.

The D&H detectors are on the road channels.161.1 north of central bridge and 161.475 south of c.b.
