Delaware-Lackawanna video
I hadn’t heard an RS-3 horn since the 1960’s in Winona when watching CNW consists go by a local chemical factory near the house I grew up in. It was nice, too, to see what the inside of the cab looks like. Thanks so much & God bless!
Great video and story. Love those RS3’s. I remember seeing them every day on my way to and from work in Winston Salem on the Southern in the 60’s…
Very nice. Alco fans, make sure you don’t miss the other D-L video posted on this site in 2013, with no fewer than four RS-3’s in action.
It’s always nice to see Alco locomotives in action. There’s just something about an RS.
Me & my Dad were lucky enough to be able to take the Steamtown to the Delaware Water Gap excursion on NKP #765. Well when we got back, we decided to get a hotel room in Scranton and the next day we took an excursion behind the DL RS3’s and another Excursion the following day behind the DL RS3’ and LV #414. These Alco’s have got to be the best kept examples of their kind in the Country. The only other two railroads that I know of that can compare is the Apache Railroad out in Arizona. Which recently filed for bankruptcy. And the small 1.4 mile NDC railroad in Northampton,PA Which rosters an original CNJ RS3m, Alco C420 (Ex. DL) and Ex. Erie Mining RS11 #7210.
