Delays lead to decline in Northstar commuter ridership

BN destroyed so much capacity between the Twin Cities and Fargo because of redundancy after the merger in the '70s. Bet they wish they had some of it back…

Don’t count on BNSF to help ANY PASSENGER TRAINS. I just returned on the Empire Builder. It is a sad state for a former great passenger train. It has become like an old sick dog because of BNSF. It is time to put it to sleep!!!

Don’t destroy it. Fix it! If Northstar has a service guarantee in their contract with BNSF, they should enforce it. If they don’t, any future Northstar money for capacity expansion needs to come with such a guarantee as part of the agreement. North Dakota and Amtrak should have done this when the fixed the Minot-Grand Forks line.

This translates to approx. 1275 round-trip riders per day.

A classic illustration of running 'em frequently and ON TIME the people will use them; if you don’t, they won’t. I second Mr. Rowell’s comment.
