Denver, Colorado Springs photos needed

Does anyone have railroad-related photos of the Denver or Colorado Springs area. I am specifically looking for BNSF facilities, especially around yards and industrial areas. Any pics you could share or link me to would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Ron

That covers a whole lot of ground. Can you be more specific?

Here is a shot of BNSF Denver shops looking from the south.

and a slightly different angle.

Here is the turnout on the bridge over the South Platte River.

In an industrial area on the west side of the Platte. The tall building in the background is the Denver Water.

This might actually be Denver Union Terminal track. The tracks to the right are UP and the BNSF locoshops are just to the left where that track curves off to. The dead end track on the left used to come on around the building. The building is actually “curved” and has freight doors spaced along that former track for box car loading. You can see one just past the end of the track there. I think there are 6 doors altogether. Union Station is about 1/4 mile immediately behind the photographer.

The June 2007 Railfan & Railroad has a good article about switching in Colorado Springs. Mostly Rio Grande as I recall but might have some useful pictures.

Here is a panorama shot I took at the Denver BNSF yard. I used this for my badkdrop for my yard.

Really I can use about anything and everything I can get. I have been to these areas, but I have never modeled them before now and I have almost no photos. Please share anything you can.

Ron

OK, here are some more I have…

This is the UP yard / Intermodal in Denver.

You are looking for current information, right?

http://www.bing.com/maps, choose Denver, zoom in, use “bird’s eye view”

http://maps.google.com/, choose Denver, zoom in, drag little man to street for street view

http://images.google.com , search terms e.g. Denver BNSF yard

Do you have any more photos of the city? And what is the restriction on usage of them? I just want to share them to my website for denver events.

Try the RR Picturearchive site and search by location http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locationList.aspx?Level=3&ID=CO,US . The photos lean toward roster shots, but there are often views of facilities too.

Another source for industries and views of areas just outside of yards is a photo site like Skyscraperpage. Google “skyscraperpage” and the city name and you’ll find some photo threads of most larger cities. The site name is a bit of a misnomer as photos are just as likely to be of other structure types.

Have you looked here?

Bing Maps should be your first stop. You can view a location from north, south, east and west.

Dang, I didn’t know they had a turntable at the BNSF yard. That’s really cool. I’ll have to go down there and check it out.

Do you think they still use it?

I have to agree that is quite a surprise! But it doesn’t look like the 'table has track to it. If you go, report back.
