Depot Diner & Coffee Shop

When you get off work in less than 8 hours on the railroad it is known as “getting a quit”.

LC

It is still snowing in So Wisconsin. I have to remind Tom that even if there is a foot and a half tomorrow morning, Bergie will still not allow any cursing in the Diner. Meanwhile, Fritz, the mini daschund, is up to his ears in snow, and comes back in telling me to get out there and shovel the snow off his territory.

My 1 year old Gateway flat screen monitor went out this morning and I spent an hour chatting with someone in India this morning. ( At least that was the accent.) With my modest hearing loss it was no fun. Fortunately, I have another monitor from one of the office computers, so I can still hang out here. Replacement comes in a few days if it stops snowing.

Since LC got a quit, I volunteer him to shovel the snow off the depot platform. Make sure there are no slippery spots at the doorways to the diner, too.

Since LC got a ‘quit’ day sounds cool. At least we DON’T have that stuff
in our area of Ky. yet!!![:D]

No,no,no…snow shovelling is strictly MOW work, I wouldn’t dream of taking it away from the BMWE…

OOP’S got that wrong---------still dodging snowballs!!![:D]

DARN!!! The MOW crew just hit me!!![:)} What Gives[?][:D]

TIme for a midnight run to Krispy Kreme…

Who’s with me?!?

LC

Gonna bring some to the ol’ YM…

LC

Gosh, haven’t done that for a long time![:)]
Can we stop by “White Castle” on the way[?][:D]
Just “Toot” when you come by. Just so we don’t
wake up CW. [:D]

I had an old ex office PC and it appears the video card died, (changed monitors with no result). I took the opportunity to get a new laptop, and downgrade the older laptop.

A bit later, a friend had a monitor failure on his Macintosh G3. Hmm, I thought, I wonder if my newly spare monitor will work on a Mac. Yes is the answer, and in exchange I was loaned an external floppy drive to try on the laptop - it hasn’t got a floppy, instead seven types of flash cards will work (including the CF cards on my Canon cameras).

I’ve been busy on my “ask a question” thread, explaining air brakes to Canadians!

Peter

Yeah cause they got a lot of wind that needs braking…

I was thinking about that when they mentioned White Castle, and “tooting” when they go by.

I’m sorry–I hope this observation doesn’t bring down the Diner (or blow the roof off it). I’m going crazy here, now that I’ve been reprieved for a week (I was expecting to have outpatient surgery tomorrow–it’s actually the 8th that I go in).

Good morning everyone! Everyone watch out at the diner door. Talk about black ice (OUCH!). Well the orange juice is ready.

BC - hope it isn’t serious.

Mike from NJ - yum! Cold, but yum

Poor Dan - there’s no smile for tongue-in-cheek. I hope he is still speaking to me!
Else, I will have to hunt for him again!

Bad … Kitty -

I’m braking wind right now…excuse me…[:D]

Believe it or not… Delaware the last 2 winters has received more snow. Most of it was in 3 storms!!!

I’m ready…

Coffee please.

No significant snow yet in the wilds of northern New York. I’m sure that’s gonna change soon… Better swap the lawn mower for the snowblower in the shed…

I’ve already done my slip-sliding this morning (my butt’s gonna be sore in a few hours!). We didn’t get much snow in western Chicagoland, but it had rained beforehand, and the in-between stuff has made things nasty. The trees are coated again, and today the sky’s clear. Lovely, when viewed from indoors.

From the old song perhaps[?] “The Wayward Wind”[:D]
Or was that from “They Call The Wind Mariah”
“On a lonely track,by a railroad shack”[:)]

I guess I’ve got to get the snowblower ready to go to work. Supposed to get above freezing today, but it is still not going to go away by itself.

LC-You could do the shoveling and then file a grievance. Probably get you an extra day or two, and Mudchicken could also timeslip the company for work taken away from him.
I guess the only thing we have to worry about is Bergie raising the rent on the Diner & Coffee Shop to cover this added expense.

Stay warm and dry.
