derail on switch

i have a ggi that if i run in 1 direection runs fine on switch but when i run inthe other direction and run it on same switch the front truck derails. so that tells me the switch is fine but the one truck is not running on it right . any one have any ideas for me.

The best way to determine the problem is to push the engine very slowly through the switch and carefully watch what happens with the wheels.

  1. The points on the switch may need filing so the wheels don’t catch and climb the points.

  2. The wheel spacing may be too narrow or too wide.

  3. The truck on the engine may be too tight causing the engine to turn hard and derail.

  4. The switch may not be moving to the full stop position.

Good Luck…

Also it is a good idea to check the p/u roller, alignment/tension/etc.

I have had the same problem with the MPC and PWC GG-1’s. What types of switches are you using? I am using Tubular 022 and 0-72 switches. It turned out the fast angle wheels couldnt handle a switch, so I replaced them with postwar style wheels and axles and everything is now fine.

it was the points i filed it just a little and it started working again, thanks
