JoeKoh called me up and told me that CSX train Q381 (Selkirk-Cicero) derailed 23 cars west of Defiance. He said that at least one of the cars is on fire.
well It was reported that one of the cars was on fire(heard it on the radio on the way).was able to look from a distance.381 was westbound on track 1.track 2 has 3 cars blocking the main.Thankfully the tank cars just had residue in them from what I have heard on the radio.Crews are coming in from toledo garrett and columbus to clean up the mess.Pictures are available at mix 98.1.com(wdfm) defiance.I am also sure the crescent news will have some posted later today as well.Time for a nap.Matt and i might go se how its going this afternoon weather and police permitting.

Joe sez no one was hurt, so I can gleefully say - would love to be there to watch my beloved Tonka Toys work! Never like to miss watching heavy equipment or trains work.

24 is still closed near the derailment and both mains are still blocked.y 101 gets to take the cars that are upright into defiance yard.(when they get done with tank car storage on the maw).Big picture in todays Crescent news.Time for supper.

SJ, plenty of Tonka stuff at our yard clearing away a foot of snow, unloading salt, making snowdrifts out of drainage ditches, etc. Oh…a few trains, too.
No big wrecks, though–knock on ties.
Gotta talk to Mr. Matt about leaving those darned pennies on the rail again???
us 24 remains closed and will be until midnight tonight accroding to law enforcement.CSX is running on track 2 again.Crews still have a lot of work to do on track 1.we are under a winter storm warning and a blizzard watch for tonight and tommorow.We usually don’t hang around that milepost because its near the bears den.
