Does anyone know anything about a derailment yesterday in Ohio on the NS Chicago line?
The NS Fort Wayne division is seeing quite a few trains that appear to be reroutes. For example…last night saw an o44, 26T, 24W and this morning we had a 21Q and a 205.
205, if I recall correctly used to be a Buffalo - Chicago intermodal that ran on the NKP line before the Conrail unmerger. It was quite a healthy train this morning with 150 EMP, Schneider, Hunt and other intermodal units.
Milbury, Ohio (east of Toledo) yesterday afternoon. Two trains (at least one a stack train) collided. One minor injury; about 20 cars (or wells, I suspect) derailed.
This is news to me. I’m guessing it must of been a head on collision. It must of been a relativly (spelling) small collision considering the fact that no one was seriously hurt. I also do wonder who was at fault here.
Well, I hope everyone is doing ok and my blessings to families involoved.
I’ve spent time driving alongside that line on US 6, where I didn’r see a train all day. Granted, I was not able to make continuous observation, because I was attending to business, a stop here, and there etc, where I lost direct view from time to time… But, I sure didn’t expect to get completly skunked, either… But at the same time, I’ve seen 3 good sized trains in a half hour just between Butler and Edgerton.
A hundred trains a day seems reasonable for the line back in Conrail days, but based on my experiences along this end of it, that has probably dropped off a bit.
I’ve been skunked many times following the Waterlevel line from Bryan OH (hi joe and matt) to Kendalltucky. [:(] Other times, one train isn’t by you and you can see the headlight of the next one (or two) already.[:p][:D]
