So there you are, making your inaugural run on your brand spanking new switch engine and then…

OUCH!!!

Ouch, indeed! Though I’d be willing to bet that one’s a bit easier to get back on the tracks than David Hannah’s SD-60M that lives on the HALS track…that one is NOT fun to rerail!
Don, what scale is that baby?[%-)]
Lou,
It’s a 1.5" scale loco…7.5" track gauge. And thankfully, it’s not mine, or I’d still be crying!
Don Z.
Okay, how’d it happen?
This may be one case where a penny on the tracks really did cause a derailment! [:D]
Hidden from view at the rear end of the loco, the roadbed gave way and when the train crossed that section, the tracks leaned hard to the left and off she tumbled. A couple of tow straps and a front end loader on a tractor got her back on the tracks in a jiffy, and then the MOW crew came in and installed new ballast and leveled the track again.

Looks just like a derailment!!!
Are you happy now? We can’t all be perfect like you…
WOW! Things are really bigger in Texas
Ouch, that makes me think of the horror that would occur at the museum in cali, where they have a 15" guage version of the cab forward… That must be fun to re-rail.
At least it didn’t go the other way and hit the tree!
Prototypes had the same problem. That is prototypical modeling.

Call 1-800-BIG-HOOK! $10,000 to answer the phone and $1,000 per hour to pick up the mess.

I’m guessing that the air was a little blue for about five minutes afterwards, and not from lingering engine fumes. What a shame…the damage, even if gratifyingly slight, will run into the $2-3K range.
It would make me sick to experience something like this…it’s bad enough when one of my HO engines falls sideways. It has only happened once, thank goodness.
YOUR PICTURE makes a good AD for ‘Roadbed’.- indoors or outdoors…

'Nother subject:
WHY iZZAT only those with cheap 'trainset’s seem to have NO derailments? - Or izzit they just don’t admit it?
