Despite past problems, South Korean company plans MBTA bid

This company must be indulging in mind altering drugs. Problem? What problem? This has to be one of the most ridiculous stances I have heard of in some time. With their record, I would be too embarrassed to put another bid in and then make a bald faced denial on top of it? Wooweee.

There is an easy way for MBTA to make sure these bozos don’t get the next contract. Do a negotiated procurement so that evaluation factors other than price can be considered. Make past performance (including timely delivery) an evalution factor, and make it much more important than price. Then, actually evaluate the offers that way. No way would Hyundai get the contract again.

And six months later they still have that new car smell! The CTC cars are still not used as such, but they are comfy.

Some interesting competition is emerging:

Hopely they get the contract. MBTA deserves what it gets.

Judging by the experience Metrolink in So Cal, I would be leery of procuring the Rotem cars. Those aren’t popular with the riders nor the crews and often referred as “Scrotums”

Bombardier not bid? thats odd, they were right in Vermont at one time…
