Detail Associates Backgrounds

Can you advise whether the Details Associates backgrounds are color or black & white. They appear as the latter on the Walthers website and I cannot find a DA website. Thanks.

Some items appear in black and white in the Walthers sourcebook to save money (I don’t know the business arrangements, maybe companies pay walthers for color pictures – as far as I know, the company may supply photos to Walthers, and every photo I can find on the web is in black and white), . The color of a photo in the catalog has no bearing on what the product actually looks like. For myself, I can’t see the point in a black and white background when the layout itself will be in color. They don’t appear to have a website or a published phone number, nor are they attending the Amherst show in two weeks, so hopefully soneone can provide a better answer.

Sorry, I can’t answer your question about Detail Associates backgrounds, but I have discovered that they apparently have no Internet presence. The only thing about them that shows up through searching are listings of their products by stores who handle their merchandise, such as Caboose Hobbies, Walthers, Bowser, Hobbylinc, etc.

I doubt that their backgrounds would be only in black and white and not full color- - after all, we don’t model in black and white.

My main concern would be, what are their backgrounds made of. The Walters Instant Horizons are printed on paper that practically dissolves in your hands before they can be applied. And the colors don’t match from one scene to the next because it seems that different printers made them at different times on different presses using different ink and different quality paper.

Backdrop Warehouse and other companies sell much higher quality panoramic photos, even in long rolls that you can order by length and not have to try fitting several small sheets together.

They are drawings (not photographs) in subdued colors.

Thank you!
