From what I have learned Detail Associates has discontinued them and unfortunately I need to replace a set on my Athearn F7A. I have tried the eBay route and have had no luck. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

About your best option would be the ones from Plano. They are made for E units, but can be cut down to fit …

Highliner had the etched stainless steel grills for the F units as well, but they are as hard to find as the Detail Associates ones …

Up until very recently InterMountain listed F7A grills on their website in their Parts section. I have no idea if the Intermountain grills will fit the Athearn bodies. I would suggest that you find out the exact length and height of the grills you need and then send InterMountain an e-mail asking them what the length and height of their grills are, and if they have any available. If you are lucky they will have grills that fit. If you are not so lucky then at least you will have had the chance to talk to some nice people.
By the way, InterMountain has solved the perennial problem of having their grills come unglued. The newer grills are attached by tabs that go through the body to hold the grills in place. No more re-gluing. No more grills popping loose from temperature changes. I am considering asking them if they have newer replacements for the glued on grills of which I have several sets.
