Though an Atlas wouldn’t have been my first choice, there’s no supplier I have found that has a good HO scale RS3 to start with. I added the details found on the SP&S locomotives, added a LokSound V5 decoder (with two out-of-phase) LEDs in the beacon. Finally, performed my heavy weathering.
Wish we could post images greater the 1000 resolution, the orginal image is 5375x 3379.
That looks real. The angle and scenery is top notch along the lines of the most excellent modeling.

I must be posting incorrectly, because a thumb nail image doesn’t show for me. I also wonder if there is a way to provide a link to a high resolution image that forum users can access.
That’s an exceptionally good photo of such an old locomotive. Where did you find it?
If you could also post a photo of your weathered model we could compare and comment.
The detailing and the weathering are done beautifully, and it is an amazing shot. For me, the only giveaway that it is a model are the thick handrails.

I can’t figure out this forum either. Years ago I had a Photobucket account until they got gready. I refuse to get another photo account. For some reason, when I post a link it rarely is clickable. I guess I’m swimming against the flow of electrons. Then again I’m using an android tablet because I hate my windows 10 upgraded laptop. I believe when the machines take over the world, it will be because of win 10.

Bruce, that’s a beautiful job! Wow. I model the SP&S, too, and although I prefer the oxide red top early scheme to the broad stripe, this is truly a marvel. Well done.
Hey, I think the photo size limit is maybe a function of Imgur, not of the forum. At least it seeems to me I"ve posted lots of photos larger than this. I use my old website to host them. If you send me the pic at [EDIT: deleted] I’ll post it for you, but “act fast!” because I’m going to delete my email address very quickly.

Did you use the little “Insert/edit image” button in the toolbar? If you just pasted the link text into the Post Body box, it will just show the link text.

The photo appears to be of the real thing. A serious modeller is trying to achieve that effect.
Success in this case. Exceptionally skilled modelling.
Just read your “About…” and all is now clear. Meticulous attention to detail is evident in your photo as is the reasons for that which you explain. For such a fiddly and sometimes exasperating hobby it is nevertheless therapeutically restful. A bit weird in fact.
That was my thought. Look at at the detail on the MU hoses.
I’ve never tried it but the OP should explore stacking photo software.

That is an amazing model! I haven’t had the guts to weather very many of my trains yet, but when I do, you will have set a very high mark indeed!
I find that most pictures posted to the forums will blow up when you click on them. If you aren’t familiar with how to post a photo itself instead of just a link, there is an explanation at the beginning of the General Discussion forum.
