Detailed and Weathered loco for the first time

Motley,

As Luigi from the movie “Cars” would say…"Ay! She-a-looksa-nice!"

Good effort on taking outside shots. Keep experimenting and also consider taking a shot in brighter sunlight too, just like the prototype photo you posted. BNSF pumpkin colors really stand out on sunny days.

Thanks for sharing! [8D][tup]

Hats off, sir, that’s a lovely job! [bow]

Weathering is one of those things that even after fifty years in this hobby, just scares the WHACK out of me, and you’ve done a beautiful job of it. The loco looks as if it’s in serious service, but it’s not a rolling ‘junkyard’ (which really turns me off, steam OR diesel).

Again, a really beautiful job! [:P]

That A/C unit from details west does’nt match the prototype. But I found the correct ones from BLMA detail parts. Caboose Hobbies has them in stock. Gonna make a trip out there tomorrow.

You did a real great job without over stating it.

“I’ll probably shoot it with some dullcoat as well.”

Not unless you want to ruin a very fine first attempt. Micheal use clear flat finish instead of dull coat. Dull coat has talc in it and will leave the finish of the locomotive all lumpy. I some times add in a touch of grimy black with the clear flat and it gives a nice weathered look.

Very very nice first time out of the box.
