Detailing a Grandt line kit

i just built a HO scale ‘Wentamuck Mine’ kit from Grandt Line. It was such an easy and interesting kit to build I thought I would add a little extra detail. I’ve already converted the outhouse to have the door open and I made a little toilet and added some toilet paper(the latter made from a lollipop stick), but I dont actually know what sort of stuff one would usually find inside the hoist house. can ayone help me with a picture of the inside of a real or model small mine hoist house or info on what would be inside? thanks. Im actually modelling a welsh coal mine and I know this isnt really prototypicly accurate, but this the closest kit I could find.

Thanks,

Sean

Try this website, it has lots of pictures concerning old mines around Tonopah, Nevada. Not exactly coal, but the equipment would be near the same.

Otherwise, a copy of Peele’s Mining Engineering Handbook would come in handy for any pre WWII equipment used in minig, including detail plans for cars, etc. These have been out of print for years, but you can get them through on line used book sources.

Most hoist rooms would have the hoist and an air compressor. Power for the hoist might be provided by a donkey stem engine or electric motor, depending on the era.
