This months model railroad mag has an article about painting and adding ditch lights, hoses, rails, plows etc. I would really like to add this detail to my GP-35 & 38’s. Are they all scratch built or are there lights, hoses and plows available as add on kits. Also noticed that the real GP 35 & 38 have bells on the top of the cab and the lights are on the nose, but the Athearn locs have the lights on the top of the cab? Is this a mod or something, or did Athearn just screw up?

Yes all the details you can desire are available in both lost wax brass castings or molded plastic and are at most better hobby shops. Precision Scale, Details west and other are the suppliers. There is a lot in the Walthers catalog and you might want to check the respective web sites. As far as Atheran goes their engines are from an era when only the most common form was modeled. If your railroad was different you changed it accordingly. Be prepared that if you add all the details you are probably going to be out somewhere beteween $60-100.
