On my Kramerton Boise Central Railroad, I roster two SD 45s and Two SD 40-2s. I would like to detail them (Add grab irons, lift rings, horns, etc.) But I don’t know which parts to use, or how to figure out where to put them. Can anyone tell me where lift rings, grab irons, horns, and other details were located on the 40-2/45s. Also, which detail parts are best to use. Thanks![:)]
That’s a whole lot to ask someone to provide for you. Since you model what appears to be a freelanced railroad, parts other than standard ones like grab irons would be up to you to decide. If you have older Athearn models, the grab iron locations are all ready for drilling holes.
I’d suggest you check out MR’s magazine index for the models, as Railmodel Journal and maybe others featured deisel detailing articles all the time, with all of the parts required. Find the article(s) and order the back issues, order your parts and away you go.
