Detailing the Walthers modern sanding tower....

Hello all.

I just finished assembling the modern sanding tower (the one on the right) made by Walthers. As I detail it, I’m unsure which of the appendages are sand hoses.

The two “wavy” ones are obviously hoses but what about the two at the end of the pipes and the two coming off of the main pillar about half-way down. Are these 4 also sand hoses (they look like the other two)?

Yes. Depending on which which model of loco, and which end, the sand fillers might be on the both sides and/or on the top, so they have hoses to reach those locations.

Thanks. I just finished it today with your help - I also added the support cables for the booms and hoses by splitting stranded 22-guage wire and adding a single strand. Looks cool!

I’d post pictures, but don’t have a good enough digital camera. When my layout is complete, I’m going to have a friend photograph it and all it’s details for me.
