Hi guys - after a long wait Walthers has finally delivered the Dining Car. Problem is now that I have it I’m even more frustrated. The seated passengers I purchased don’t fit!
I know I can cut the legs off but from my perspective the passengers are just too big for the tables. Anyone have a comment on this?
Well, not sure if this helps since you already purchased figures, but I always found the Merten figures (example) seemed undersize (other posters can add their tales of undersized HO figures).
Question - do you plan to show off the interior of the car from time to time (without the roof on) - in which case you’d better find a way to model those legs & laps, otherwise the scene just looks ghoulish and bizarre. Also, using a scale rule, how do things match up - are the tables & seating really that undersized or is it just an optical illusion?
More than likely the tables are a little oversized, not leaving enough room for the people. That’s the problem with plastic chairs and couches etc., a real person would sink into a real seat whereas the plastic people don’t.
Depends too on the people, some HO people are a little oversized - too thick. Preiser people are usually the best IMHO for scale and detail. If you buy a pack of Preiser seated passenger undecs and paint them yourself they only cost about 5-6 cents per person.
