Can someone tell me how to determine the proper size of a bolt needed for moting a static motor? I have a slow rotation motor that I what to use on a turntable, but I have been unable to determine what size bolt (2-56, etc) fits the motor. Is it going to be trail and error effort?
Are there threaded holes in the motor body, or are there tabs on the side of the motor that allow you to attach the motor to something else? If tabs you can use whatever fits through. If threaded holes then they are probably small diameter. Take the motor to your friendly non-big box hardware store. They normally have a selection of small machine screws at least down to 2-56. See if it fits. If not, you can work up or down in size from there.
The holes may be metric thread. I would take it to a decent hobby shop that sells RC cars and planes as well as trains. Many of the screws on the cars and planes are metric thread.
