Detroit streetcar project M-1 delayed through 2017
M-1 Rail would have best been constructed on the centre of Woodward Avenue. This would allow more efficient operation with limited right-of-way and one station serving both directions instead of separate stations on either side of the avenue.
The streetcars would be more competitive rather than immersed in street traffic as they will by running on the sides like buses.
Actually some of it is down the center. The fact that it will move with traffic will likely throw the timing off a bunch at heavy traffic times and it gets very heavy at AM and PM commutes.
