I heard a rumor at work that Deval Tower burned last night. Anybody know if it’s true?
I don’t know. But if it’s true Monday morning’s commute should be interesting.
jashauer1:
Are you referring to the Devil’s Tower Monument in Wyoming, or some building somewhere in America?
There was a fire of some sort at the tower. The control operator had no control of the signals or switches at the interlocking but still had control of norma and seeger. So im guessing that it was a problem with the old lever machine.
What city & state for my future info pls is this tower located in? [:)][:p]

Metra says that some sort of fire happened at Deval recently. The service update page on METRA’s website says that there will be delays of 15 minutes to every train on the UP Northwest line for the next two or three weeks. The update is at this place

Glad I don’t have to head into town every day.

Des Plaines, Illinois, seventeen miles northwest of Chicago.
At the junctions of the UP Northwest (commuter) lines, the UP (with trackage rights for the CP) freight line from Proviso to Butler, and the CN line from Fond du Lac to Schiller Park.
Thanks for the reply! [:D][:p]

20 minutes late into C.U.S. this morning through Deval. Didn’t seem to be much of a delay there, but we got stuck by a slow order and “broken down” freight train south of the tower.
People missed connections to a local from River Grove, so we made “flag stops” between RG and Western Avenue - which added in to the 20 minutes.
Gave me more time to:
- Read a good book about the Vietnam War. (I hate Lyndon Johnson. I think Nixon saved my life.)
- Sleep
- Have fantisies about a woman passenger that I’d like to meet
