diaphrams between E/F, etc. locomotives and betweeen passenger cars

Why must we continue to suffer with the manufactuers’ 2-foot gap diaphrams between passenger cars and many diesel locomotives? Some manufacturers even brag about “operating diaphrams,” desite the substantial gaps!
Anyway, what is the best remedy us modelers can come up with? Appropriately colored folded paper diaphrams glued onto diaphrams already provided on the models?

Depending on your time era, why not eliminate diaframs between F & E units? Most roads did so later on anyway. I’ve used KD #7’s to decrease the gap. I also alter the mtg. system on Ath, P2k & Stewart units to get to the scale 3’ distance between units. As to pass. cars, I adjust the coupler distance to bring them as close together as possible w/o derailing on 28" curves. Pass. car diaframs may look nice but they can cause operational problems unless used on broader curves than 28".

I posted this topic a little while back. It shows a Kadee conversion of the E6. Good luck. Dave
