I recently won an auction on sleaze Bay for a Spectrum 2-10-2 DCC equipt loco. I got it for $89. including shipping. The price on the Bachmann web site is listed as $225. I see alot of them up on eBay starting at $79. plus shipping so I was just wondering if I got a good deal.
You can be honest, If I got hosed I can take it. I’ll chalk it up to a learning experience. I think I done good, just looking for opinoins from the experts.
Nope, no sound just…I say just as if…DCC. It is brand spankin new but Ihaven’t run it yet, still working on getting the track wired up, I am “chompin at the bit” to get it running though. I’m a little worried about how it will handle my 18" radius turns.
J.P one thing Bachmann does is make their locomotives run on 18" radius curves the bigger the steam engine on smaller curves looks funny but some of us cant help it.
Hmmmm! now I’m nervous. I have a couple of blocks powered on the ole layout, I’l run it as as soon as I get home from work tonight. It only showed up last thursday but I already left positive feeedback for the seller. Might ahve to recant (I hope not).
Fargo, did you get yours from a store, Internet shop or eBay?
I’m confused. You made a decision to send someone you don’t know your money for mechandise you haven’t seen and you’re calling it, “sleaze Bay?” If it’s that bad, why in heaven’s name would you do such a thing?
But frankly, if it does run well, I would think you got a good deal.
This question is just slightly moot at this point, don’t you think??? I do wonder, however, if the seller gave any indication as to what he was going to do with your money. Maybe he came to the conclusion that you had stolen it from him and he burrowed his sorrow in strong drink!!!
An excellent deal JP - I’m sure we’re all green with envy.
If you’re running it on 18" curves, be prepared for it to slow noticeably on the curves, as the rigid wheelbase causes a lot of flange grinding - you’ll know what I mean when she fires down the starights.
They are great locos & run smoothly. You won’t be disappointed.
Yes you did get a good deal. Most of the newer Bachman Spectrum steam is very good. I have the shay, Russian 2-10-0, USRA 2-6-6-2, N&W J, and Pennsy K4. All of which are great engines. However, I don’t get the dig on eBay. They are not some sort of evil place, but rather the ultimate in free market exchange. I have purchased a lot of stuff on eBay and have had very very few problems. They key is to buy from someone with a good rating.
Gee I didn’t realize this message board had so members of the board of directors for eBay. My comment was just intended as a harmless jab. I meant no offense.
BTW, the loco runs great, so I guess I did get a good deal. Also, there is no need to green, and my message certainly wasn’t intended to be an in your face kind of thing. Like I said I see them up there all the time for around the same price.
The Spectrum locomotives are worth much more than $5. An older Bachmann steamer, maybe…
You can’t loose with a Spectrum steamer (the majority of the time). Which road name did you get? Does it have the doghouse on the tender? They are very good looking locomotives! I think you got a good deal.
