I tried searching for it in their online catalog but it doesn’t even show up among their ‘retired’ items. I want to at least see a picture of it so I can scratchbuild something similar on my own pike. The prototype one that was in my hometown is gone. Thanx in advance…
I am not sure if they did. I do have a couple of storage tanks here that look like the propane storage tanks that a local (40 Miles away) dealer has on his lot. I am not sure who made them but they seem to have Walthers “fingerprints” all over them.
Any chance you snap a few pictures of your models and post 'em?[:p]
I’m positive I remember seeing an ad in MR a few years back for a Cornerstone kit that included a Magnuson [resin models] propane gas delivery truck sitting on the lot…
Thanks Dan! For a second I was going to say they look like the Plastruct ‘kit’ for two propane storage tanks…until I saw the horizontal seams (Plastruct never uses split cylinders). Hmmm…looks like I’ll be doing some scratchbuilding, these provide a good starting reference point. Thanx again for posting them!
You could probably use any tanks like ther ones danpik showed, they seem to be the type used at every propane dealership i’ve seen. Walthers does offer piping kits, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
They used to sell a propane dealership in HO as part of their Cornerstone series. I believe it was called Central Gas and Supply (maybe![%-)]). From what I can remember, it consisted of 2 propane tanks, a modern “metal” office/shop building, piping, and possibly a loading platform. This is the best my memory has to offer as the kit has been out of production for several years. Walthers also used to sell the propane tanks separately. I checked their website and I don’t see them now (unless I overlooked them [X-)]), so I’m assuming they are also out of production[V].
You could also kit-bash an old LP tank car for your storage tank(s). Any small store kit would work for the (office), since many propane dealler also sell gas appliances.
Again, thank you everybody for your replies! Bryan, that Conerstone kit is exactly what I remembered seeing, thanx for digging it up.
While I was out Christmas shopping yesterday I found another [prototype] propane dealership that has a rail spur going into it - but that whole area is obscured by a tall wooden fence so I can’t get any photos. I did catch a glimpse of two large hotdog-shaped storage tanks though - should be an easy scratchbuild.
