did you look at my post

I just like to see if people are like me and watch what people want to read about, are they painting, glueing adding I just pick the ones I think I can get tips and info but all have someting and you never know what the post will contain I try to add things that interst me and hope the are fun for you too
what do you do

I try and make helpful replies. What gets me is when I make a post about something like finding those cheap Wal mart cars like I did a few months back and all I get are negative replies. They can’t be any good! They must be cheap crap! Your hurting your LHS shopping there! Now 3 months later someone else makes the same exact post that I did and they have 4 pages of posative replies about what a great find they are.
Just makes me shake my head some times.[%-)][D)]

I bet with some paint you can get some very good props

After a while, the questions repeat and I begin to loose interest. If a topic interests me, I look through the posts. I do not have the time to read a large portion of them.

I read the post that are in perspective to what i need to know and ,I also read either the post’s that are from people line yourself ( that have responded to my post’s) guess you can call it out of respect( ? ) or sometime’s like so most people I read the ones that the topic catches my eye.
I try to read as much of them as possible since not everyone has the same perspective on the topics at hand. And, everyone had tried different ideas that have worked and some that have failed.
I try to post topics and get really good advice ,but most of the time the same people are the ones that reply to them so, in all i feel that there are only the few people out there who are willing to respond to the post.
And again to these great individuals
Thanks a ton[:D][:D]

If I dont get many responses, I know either I didnt ask my question right, or it was pointless.

Kinda ticks me off when you post something useful only to have it nearly or completely ignored. You come back the next day and find it on like the 6th page back. Or, when you see people getting the pats on the back for all their posts, but almost have to beg for the same. Disheartening to say the least.

[#ditto]

Even ignored by the original poster… OR, you Do ask a question and it gets buried behind 10 pages of “I hate 4x8s” and “genesis is going to announce a new loco”… People Look at it, I can see the counter go up but … dead silence… Oh well, If I all I had to do was spend my life worry\ing about what people on this forum do or think, I’d be better off getting out the 45.

I look at a lot more topics than I post to, though some people may not actually believe that. A catchy title is the first trick to drawing people in. Many topics are easy to pass up or miss. After that substance is what gets posts. The more specific the subject, the smaller the audience.

I usually look at topics with no posts, or topics thet get a lot of posts really fast.

its true sometime I like to join in and dont find the thread or just cant tye at the moment but for the most part we do get the answers we need and thank you to all you good folks that stop by and help thats what makes this the greates its the peoplelike you all
so dont get upset if you dont get the responces just n\find a new way to ask the questions

lol
its a close race
I cant tell who is winning
but I got a lot of hits with this one

At our Club lately the members have been critiquing some the answers that have been posted on the forums for some of the new model railroaders.

We are amazed at how confusing and complete opposite the answers can be as if the person responding to the NuBes question never read the question.

Many of us have wanted to respond but felt that the response would just confuse the modeler more due to the number of posts already given.

This is sad in a way as the person asking the question probably just gave up in wanting to ask any more questions.

But opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one.

Unfortunately many posts and their Subjects aren’t clear as to the reason for the post. Poor spelling, punctuation, no capitalization, run on sentences, etc. also can make the reason for the post unclear. When I have a hard time figuring out the Subject or the message, I pass on it.

So a suggestion to those who post new threads - read them over before you post them. Are they really clear? Are your questions straightforward? Or are they just some rambling semi sentences?

Bob Boudreau

Amen to that, Brother Bob!

I can understand the occasional mis-spelling (although it’s easy enough to check with an online dictionary!). I can forgive the occasional syntax error. I have a hard time with jumbled questions that ramble on and on until I’m not sure what the question is.

I am amazed and astounded by posts with multiple spelling errors, sentences that run into other sentences, poor grammer, incorrect punctuation and numerous other errors that make reading the post difficult.

There IS a “preview” button that gives a poster the opportunity to read their own message and correct the mistakes made in it before posting it onto the forum. Maybe people are too lazy to fix their mistakes or didn’t pay enough attention in school when their native language was being taught. Maybe some posters just don’t take pride in what they post or don’t think their words are important enough to justify clarity. I don’t know.

I’m no Brainiac, nor was I a college English major. I just think that what I have to contribute may be important to someone and it is my responsibility to make my statements clear and precise, with properly spelled words, good grammer and correct punctuation. Is that too much to ask? I don’t think so!

Darrell, just b*tchin’, and quiet…for now

Budliner, I didn’t vote but I read your post, hence this reponse. Some of my posts get a lot of reponses, others don’t. We have to realize that we are on a forum that is read by many and that since we are reading, sometimes what is read may be taken differently then what was meant when it was typed. Sometimes a question is asked and is answered in just one or two reponses that anymore reponses would be just repeating. Also we have to realize we all have different areas of interests, then too, a lot depends on who’s logged and participating at the time the post is made. I’m on this forum to share what little knowledge I have and to enjoy the good company of other model railroaders. Merry Christmas, Ken

There are allot of good questions that never get but just a few responses, I try and focus on these with some people being new to the hobby. There seems to be allot of topics that hang on page 1 and 2 for weeks on end or longer, and they seem 5 pages or more and they are growing every week. No sense in trying to point it out at times, these post seem to be the main focus most of the time, and I have replied once or twice to the long winded post. So I am trying to concentrate on the good questions and ideas, these seem more interesting for me, even if they are repeated questions.

I figure by next spring the first 2 pages will be nothing but old threads being kept alive and the lower pages is where the people with questions will be bumped. I don’t mind digging for them, its kind of fun to look through and bring up an old idea or have a comment to add to a question. Besides there are allot of good threads that never really get any input, and there are allot of good ideas being ignored and forgotten about.

Merry Christmas all

I seldom initiate threads, but when I do, I hope to get a response. I don’t need gushing legions, just a few thoughful replies to help me to put the matter at rest.

I try not to be manipulative and use deceptive words to lure people to the subject. I don’t have to. If a person choses to pass the thread by, god bless them. I will do the thanking to those who offer a response, few though they may be.

Besides, some people are chattier than others. That’s okay by me as I get to read more.

Take care, everyone. Have a safe one.

ok so if some has a hard time with the spelling and the puncuation then everyone assumes that the person is lazy or didnt care
I say get a book and catchup
we all have some piont of veiw
and you may fine that out of the mouths of babes

this is the bestest hobbie
