Did you paint subroadbed & roadbed?

Is it best to paint with latex the ribbon subroadbed (or flats plywood below towns), and also the roadbed (I’ll use homa-bed) … or leave either or both unfinished? Also, do you put any expansion cracks between the splices of either? (I kind of assume not).

I took the answer consensus of an earlier question, and painted my L-girder benchwork wood before assembling. (Very satisfied with results).

Appreciate all answers, Hal

The answers to your benchwork question still apply to your subroadbed, particularly the homabed. Since you will probably cover the homabed with ballast, any latxt paint will do.

Hi
I just bought a quart of lite brown latex and cut it 50 / 50 with water so it would be more of a stain then a thick paint and painted the cork road bed and every where else

Home Depot’s or Lowe’s “Ooops” paint rack - where they put all of the paint that gets mixed wrong or whatever - almost always has brown latex in it. Don’t know why, but it seems to always be there. Anyway, you can pick up a gallon for about $5, which is the best deal going,
