Did you see it in a train video?...

Just wondering if anyone out there besides me ever bought a loco of a particular road name just because you saw it in a train video and it hooked you?. I did this with the Nickel Plate Road Berkshire I have…

Yep. I saw a Southern SD35 in a video on youtube and I said I need to get one of them! Now I have an Atlas SD35 with sound- my first.

Does a picture count? I saw a picture of the Maersk GP-60M (like the one as my avatar pic) at the A-Line website and I just had to have one. At the time there wasn’t a ready-made one, so I had to buy an undecorated shell, decals, and the works to get myself one. It was fun doing it too, then Athearn ended up acquiring A-Line’s tooling and released a RTR GP-60M in the same scheme I did.

As far as seeing a train in a video that I have to have, the TGV that came out in the first Misssion Impossible (Tom Cruise version). Not a train video, but still makes me want to get one of those as a train set.

The videos of these sound locos have me tempted to make the leap.($$$)

I saw a little video of the Union Pacific’s George Bush locomotive. I had to have it.

[#ditto] I love the Overland brass model. I wish I could afford it.

Yes, it was the case with the C&NW class H-1 4-8-4, the D&RGW class L-105 4-6-6-4, N&W class J 4-8-4, the NYC class J-3a 4-6-4 with Dreyfuss shroud, the NYC class S-1b, the PRR class S1 6-4-4-6, and possibly others, too. But the videos always gave only the final push. The true reason were better photos of the engines.
