Diesel fueling facilities - modeling "oil spills"

Hi,

I’ve got two of the Cornerstone diesel fueling facilities and have built them to be of the '50s era - which basically excludes splash grates and drains.

In experimenting with weathering the concrete pads, my best result is using Testor’s “rubber” paint with varying amounts of thinner. The results are ok - not great - just ok.

My question is, what have you done to show years of fueling effects on concrete pads?

Thanks!

In the past I have used Poly S Oily Black with good results.

Yep, I agree.

Having used washes before, I would think a wash of Polly Scale oily black would work. (A Wash is 10 parts water / thinner and 1 part paint.)

Use a wash for older spills, and make it stronger for newer spills. If you want a spill that just occurred, add a gloss finish to straight Oily Black after it dries.
