Has anyone built the Walthers Cornerstone Diesel House

kit ? I bought one the other day and am considering some kitbashing to reduce it’s size. Right now it has three tracks (looking to go to two) and a footprint of 9.25" x 16.87" . Before I start chopping up a $70 kit, I was wondering if anyone else has built or kitbashed one yet.

So I am guessing that few have this new kit. I’ve decided not to cut it down from 3 tracks to 2. After opening the kit and looking at the 1/2" plastic foundation, I decided it would never be right if I started cutting on it. So I did as all good moderlers do, I updated my track plan. One thing to note that the 1/2" plastic base is designed to be recesseed about 1/2" , Since I have 1/2" plywood, I’ll cut out a section to match the base, and then screw another 1/2 piece into the opening for it to sit on. Also it needs bare rail inside the building. The plastic base supports the rails. You’ll need about 9’ of bare rail. I haven’t tried sizing it but it looks like 83 or 100 will work fine. I’ll post some pictures when I get it built.

It is one kit I’m looking after. Does it come with the overhead travelling crane? Keep us informed about your builbing and kitbashing. I would like to build mine along the edge of the layout with a wall or a corner opened up to see the pits under the locos and many workers around them. And maybe a series of suspended fluorescent lights above the workbenches.

The overhead crane is extra but can be added.
