Diesel locomotive models: your wish list?

With so many new models of diesel locomotives becoming available ready to run in plastic, are there any particular diesel locomotives of the past 7 decades you would love to see appear in plastic RTR form?

here is my wish list of diesel engines i would like to see come out. I know some of them had very low production in real life, but oh for some to come out say in Walthers’ Proto 2000 and 1000 lines would be awesome.

Whitcomb 44 tonner, GE BQ23-7, ALCO T-6, EMD GMD1 (A1A-A1A), Illinois Central GP-8, GP-10, Illinois Central SW14, Union Pacific SW10, and new production runs of Walthers’ RSC-2 and RS-2. My 5 RSC-2’s run very well, some after almost 4 years.

Waiting for Athearn GP-15T in Chessie. Rich

RS-1 in Southern green. For that matter, just about anything other than passenger diesels in Southern green. My layout is too small to run passenger, though I wish it could. Would also be nice to see some of the Southern subsidiarys in SR colors but with their road name.

Lima built 1000 and 1200 horsepower switchers in NKP livery.

For large diesels, I’d like to see the U50B and C-855 made. Athearn already has the chassis, so why not? For medium-sized diesel, maybe both the cab and hood unit Krauss Maffei ML-4000. Rivarossi made a nice one (and I really like mine), but it’s about time we saw a new one. As for small diesel, some high quality Plymouth industrial switchers may do well. The only good quality industrial switcher so far is the Roundhouse EMD Critter (and I think only 11 real ones were ever made). Plymouth has made hundreds of their little diesel switchers, so why can’t anyone make a good model of something so simple and common?

EDIT: All in HO, by the way.

Any of the Kiso Forest Railway’s four-wheel ‘critters’ in 1:80 scale, 10.5mm gauge; especially the ten tonner that looked like the front of a Volksvan breech-mated to a Kenworth truck hood.

An HOj model of the JNR center-cab siderod diesel (DD10?) would be nice. One used to serve Itazuke AB when I was stationed there.

OTOH, I have no interest whatever in any diesel-electric of any nationality.

I would like to see the old MDC Alco-GE-IR boxcab re-released with an updated drive mechanism and a few detail improvements such as window glazing and wire grab irons.

A B.R. Class 55, Deltic and the prototype. Powerful engines that had loud prime movers.

Well, Atlas has kindly seen to it to move it from my wish list into reality: NYC HH600 switcher

By my calculations, it should be arriving at Atlas in the next week or so. And I’m figuring I will be running on my layout by the end of the month. Sweet! [8D][tup]

The only thing I wish Atlas had done differently was to release the NYC version in the original '39 paint scheme - i.e. NO yellow safety rail or white diagonal safety lines on the front end. Even so, thank you, Atlas! [:D]

Any N scale switcher in S.P. bloody nose.

++ for this one ! With DCC and sound. I have one of the original ones - and it runs rough and can be heard by the neighbors!

I would love to see an nice EMD SW-1 Again, DCC and sound would be nice.

Gil, known as Bill somedays …

All of the New Jersey Transit locos- F40PH-2CATs, GP40PH-2s (all models would be nice, but I’d be fine with one model, since all three models are nearly identical), GP40FH-2s, PL42ACs, and MP20B-3s. The PL42s and FH-2s are already made as resin kits, but it would be nice to see them in RTR plastic.

I’m patiently waiting for the Athearn SD70ACe and Atlas Genset switchers.

Same here. I emailed them about a week ago, and was told not to expect them until August, at the earliest…

I have a Southern RS-2 in Southern green, and also a Southern green F-7 ABBA set. Both were Proto 1000, maybe six or seven years ago. Not sure if they are still available. You might check Walthers, or Trainworld.

Another topic that gets repeated about once a month. I’m a practical person and really only interested in EMD so my choice is a HH GP 50 Southern of course
