Can’t find any around here. Anyone have a source and address or telephone number so I can order some. Thanks.

Thank you very much Javern Just the thing I needed. Thanks.

if its those little plastic rubber bands that go on unpowered loco wheels - i used some small single-use hairbands of the right size for $3 (available at CVS/ local convienience store) on a long discontinued engine.

I will check that out too, Jake. Thanks

I have a plastic box of tires- Stewart HO Gauge Diesel SUPER TRACTION TIRES.
Cat. No. 505 A VIRNEX PRODUCT.
Be aware, there are different widths. Good luck.
Phil

I understand fec153. Thanks.

When you get them, there is a little trick to make it easier to mount. Heat water to just below boil. Pour small amount into/onto a saucer, put the bands in the water to soften.
Should be a lot easier to mount. Just my way to do it. Good luck.
Phil

Phil,
The hot water trick sounds good I’ll have to try that.
I make my own traction tires from hose I got from the hospital used for oxygen.
I slide a piece onto a rod and turn it in the lathe (a drill will work), then slice the tires to width with a razor knife.

Ray - Are all the oxygen hoses the same diameter?

Greengoose,
No, I got 2 different sizes one is 1/8" OD ( great for N scale tires and drive couplings)and the other is 1/4 OD. They need to be stretched onto the wheel.
I’m sure other sizes are available.
I’ve seen neoprene hose at the local hardware store in other sizes that may work.

I’ll check the hardware store out. Thanks.

i used masking tape rapped on the wheels for traction. Seems to work fine and the engine can actually pull something now when the old traction tires wore out. But the masking tape won’t last forever and it wiil need to be replaced depending on how much u run your loco. Also u can cut it to wahever width u want and it’s chep too!!!

Who would of thought of masking tape? Gonna have to try that. Boy model railroaders come up with some dandies. I would never have thought of that one. Thanks.

I have some traction tires comingfrom Walthers, so I can compare them to the tubing and masking tape.
