Diesel traction tires

Anybody have experience on installing traction tires on diesels? I just purchased the stewart traction tire pack and all it says is how easy they are to install with the installation tool and what a big difference they make. Sure, so where are the instructions. How many do you install and do you put them on one side only? Do I really have to purchase a $10 tool to install a 50cent item or can I do it with a tapered dowel? Any suggestions would be appreciated since I don’t want to break anything.

Thanks

Those Stewart traction tires are to replace ones that have broken or worn off. If a locomotive didn’t originally have traction tires, I don’t think you can add one. The wheels that have traction tires on them have a groove for the tire to fit into so it doesn’t slide off.

They are for drives that use ‘tires’, Tyco 'F units had them, Some Rivarossi steam.
Wheels have to be ‘hollow’d out’ to use (have rims)…

Put away in a drawer somewhere for a rainy day.I doubt you’ll get a refund.
TIRES are a mfr’s inexpensive way to get traction.

This source is not the same STEWART that makes quality engines. Where did you buy them? EBay?
