hi!
I have a question about the digitrax PM42. besides handling loops, I know it can separate a layout in 4 power sub-districts. this is an interesting feature for who, like me, doesn’t want to buy an additional booster.
my question is: I have a say 4A booster. does the PM42 divide the current and assign 1A to every district, or it just manage short circuits and use 4A on the entire layout?
The PM42 is not a booster. The best way to understand it is that it is exactly like the circuit breakers in your house. Rather than shut down all the electricity in the house if something goes wrong, just one circuit goes down. The PM42 is a circuit breaker.
All 4 amps will be pumped throughout your system. If you need more power, then you buy another booster.
rsn48,
I don’t need a booster. I need EXACTLY a circuit breaker
thank you and thank nfmisso for your answers. also, Tony’s said the same about the PM42.
