Digitrax SE8Cs and Atlas Twin coil machines

I’m wondering if I can use an Atlas Twin coil with a Digitrax SE8C. I would like to use Tortises but I need so many of them they’re alittle out of my price range for now. My Goal is to have my layout fully functional and signaled in time for my Graduation this coming summer but that is going to take awhile if I have to use Torti. I don’t really want to spend the money on the SE8C if I have to use Tortise machines. I will eventually but I would rather do the SE8C and the Atlas Twin coils.

Thanks Jay

Sorry, but the SE8C will not drive a twin coil switch machine.

Are you trying to control semaphores with an SE8C or something? I can’t imagine Atlas twin coils doing anything for you in that case. And if money’s the issue, why use the more expensive semaphores when searchlights or NYC-styles are available?

I was just asking a similar thing today.

These do twin coil.

Paul, The SE8C will drive the Switch Machines and the signals. I’m still researching what style signals I need. I wanted to use Twin coil machines to throw the turnouts becuase they are cheaper and easier to install. becuase they require less space under my benchwork so they will fit in the tighter spots better.

Lothar, I looked at that topic before I posted this one While that throws the switches that I want it doesn’t have the signalling part that I need like the SE8C does.

To all, If they don’t do Twin coil machines. is there away to set up something that can run Twin Coil machines and tell the SE8C or what ever I choose to use for the signalling part. I looked at Bruce Chubbs system while that does what I’d like, its out of my price range and requires too many parts. if I can find away to use the Digitrax system I only need 1 SE8C, 3 BD4s and the Signal heads, for the signalling. I also looked at using the Atlas signal system but it does not work the DCC to my knowledge. If there is anything else out there that would work well and is within my price range of around 400 dollars(which is about what the Digitrax system will run me if I have to use Tortises) that can do signalling in pretty much ABS Form and throw twin coil machines?
