can u run a zypher set and a radio super cheif set together?

on the same layout
anyone done it?
bump
Yes.
The Super Chief and the Zypher are both Digitrax systems. Run a loco-net cable between the zypher and the Super Chief. and designate one as the “Command Station”
Consult Digitrax manuals for how to do this.

thx i justed figured that out im readin the zypher mannel right now
sure,
My first question is what do you need them both to do on your layout.
the zephyer can be set up as command/ booster/ throttle,
booster and throttle only, booster only, or throttle only.
command station functions wuld then run through the chief.
either the zephyr or the cheif can operate on radio with a ur91 and radio throttles
Personally, if I had both, I would use the zephyr as a programmer connected to computer with decoder pro software , and run the layout on the chief alone.
Run the Chief on the layout and the Zephyr as a power district and accessories like switches.
I’d run the Zephyr as a slow-motion switcher or yard throttle because of the finer control afforded by its large throttle knob.
Well sort of - I don;t thinkt he speed control is ‘finer’ on the Zephyr, the potentiometer control is actually a lot courser than the encoder knobs on the DT400 throttle, which take multiple turns to go from stop to max speed.
However, if you program your switchers to not go more than 25smph anyway, it won’t matter and the Zephyr does make a good control device for a stationary area like a yard.
Plus the 2.5 amps if the Zephyr can drive a lot of stationary decoders and Tortoises - that way if someone runs a switch and shorts the Chief there is still power on to activate the switch motor.
