disassembling loco

New to modern day model railroading. I have a couple of N scale kits that I’m playing with. Last night I was tinkering with my locomotive and am having trouble trying to disassembling it. I can take off the couplers, but thats about it. How would a person remove the cover, wheel trucks, misc. Just curiosity so in the future if I want to go to a dcc layout or clean the unit. Thanks.

I don’t do “N” scale so no help there. But lay out for us the brand and what model the loco is. Most “N” scalers could then maybe help you, as each brand does thing differently. And have fun ![8D]

sorry about that, I should of included more info. The loco that I was working on is a Bachmann Spectrum, N scale, not sure of the prototype model, modern day unit. I have found a small screw to remove for each of the couplers, but thats it. I can’t find any screws for anything else. I would try to pull on it, but I don’t want to bust anything.

Jeff, is it a stemer or a diesel?

BNSF deisel, red & silver. Is there a screw or something hidden that I’m missing or is there a snap that needs to be undone?

Jeff

IIRC, you are going to have to spread the shell GENTLY out from the frame near the fuel tank. There’s a clasp or two on each side thereabouts that will let go, and the frame will slide right out.

thats what I was thinking, just didn’t want to try it and break something if that wasn’t what I was susposed to be doing, thanks
