Disassembling Walthers RTR Oscar and Piker

Hi all.

Just wondered if anyone has had the RTR versions of these cars apart to paint and detail the interior. The roofs have some play to them but I’d hate to break them.

Thanks in advance,

Glenn

Most Walthers rooves are designed to twist. I’ve not dreamed of doing anything to my pair, but that would stand they would keep consistant.

Since I;m nozy, what scheme are yours?

Yeah, I looked at mine, and the roof section looks like it is the way in… but I can’t be sure. I sure don’t want to break the little guys!!!

The problem is that there isn’t anything to twist. the only real thing that could go is one pf the tabs. Theses can be glued back in, You might try lightly probing with a small flathead screw driver. thin enough to not risk, but give you an idea about how the roof is attached. If there are tabs, you’ll feel them, then remove screwdriver and lightly torque car. There’s been disscussion here about it, I’ll find el link. or not. If you don’t find tabs, or the roof acts like it’s molded to the body, cease reading this post. There’s nothing more anyway.

They’re green Pullmans.

Thanks for all your tips. I’ll take them under advisement before I take the next step.

Happy Fathers Day to all!

Glenn

Have you looked on the bottom? Seems i remember that some of the older wood passenger car kits used blind nuts on the roof and long screws from the bottom held the roof in place.
