Disaster on the C&O

This is not staged. (except the people & clean up) Cause is unknown. No injuries, brakeman in caboose was shaken up. Minor damage to equipment.

not very safe place to observe from. Chemicals in tank car.

Time to clean up the mess.

Neat! What about the power crews to right the poles and string the power lines?

Very nice pictures, we all know the real disaster took place when the chessie merged with the seaboard, and became CSX!

Very nice scene!

Very nice…Cox 47

Excellent documentation. Looking forward to results of investigation into cause of mishap.

P.S. Trust those will be forthcoming.

Looks like Train Handeling to me. Train “string-lined” on the curve. Better bring the crew in for some retraining. [:P]

Fantastic, Gotta love the C&O.

(Anymore shots of the layout?)

Cool. But, we’re really talking about the CN main over the Cheakamus River aren’t we?
[:-^]

Very nice job.

[:D] Thanks fr posting that. it was some good pictures. Bet the guys in the caboose had to check thier shorts…[;)]

Nice work [tup], that’s making the best of a bad situation (you did say this was unplanned right?)

Hi,
This always happens on my friends layout when we have visitors ,its over 35 years and counting ,so hes excused .

Still under investigation. Speed was questioned, Union threw a fit. Someone suggested a kid may have put a quarter on the track ( desaster in HO ). No conclusions as of now.

Yes this was unplanned. didn’t touch it except to add people. Looked to real to mess with.

Company is looking at time off as a minimum.

cool!!! did the engine stay on the tracks??? Tim

I bet the cause was an HO sized chipmunk ran across at the wrong time.[:-,]

Nice job on the pictures! It’s always nice to see someone have fun with an accident instead of get all mad about it.[:D]

The engine on tne train where you can see the caboose is about 25 cars away. The other one is about 15 cars away. So the engines went off and left the accident not even knowing about it for a couple of miles.

Update on the investigation. It is considered a freek accident. Looks as though an insect may have been the culpret.

do I see a cat lurking in the background…

why, the trains arent supposed to derail when visitors are present,…no?

really, all those little derailments we quickly fix with the 5 finger hook loom giant sized when guests are around…

Don’t have any animals so not a cat. Just a model rail road gremlin
