Discount Trains Online.com, anyone.....

i am thinking about ordering a couple engines from DTO.com, have any of you delt with them before? ANY feedback, good or bad, would greatly be appreciated.[:)]

I’ve ordered from them several times, no problems at all. I never bought locos from them, only rolling stock. I live across the country from them in Pennsylvania and it took 4-5 days for the packages to arrive to give you idea on transit time. I recomend them.

I’ve used them a few times. Everything went well. No surprises.

I also have had nothing but excellent experiences with them. Highly recommended.

Same here. Good experiences. One thing to note is that delivery times are slow, but they tell you that up front.

Often trainworld Items are cheaper and ship faster but I thing DTO is ok

I’ve had items from them usually a week or so delivery, even over here.

Ken.

Same as all above. Great service.

I havn’e seen any better prices than Kleins, and if you’re ordering N Scale stuuf, BLW. Good prices and very good customer service.

Super Service from these people …

I’ve found their shipping is slow, too. Sometimes, it doesn’t get out of their door for a week. Everything else, though, is terrific. I use their web site, rather than Walthers, as my first go-to price-and-availability checker.

Great place to order Model Railroading Products. I’ve ordered from them before and a couple of my friends have ordered from them several times. They haven’t had any problems except for once, one of my friends had ordered several cars including 2 grain cars, he received only 1 so he contacted them and they apologized and said they would send the other grain car out as soon as possible. I think he got it about a week later. Overall though, they’re pretty good. I’d definetely order from them again.

Have placed a few orders with them, no problems. Everything is well packed.
William.

I have never ordered from them before. I have bought my Trains from Firsthobby. I think that I will check them out now. Allan.

I’ve purchased lots of rolling stock, engines and track from them and had great experiences. They ship via UPS so it takes 4-5 days to get to me on the east coast but the combination of the email notification and UPS tracking means you know what’s going on every step of the way which is nice.

i posted just this morning, and now i have just returned home. WOW!![:0][:D] THANK YOU ALL!! for the feedback.[:D] i normally order from walthers or tonys, as i have gotten no less than the best service EVERY time from both. last night i was surfing around and clicked on DTO.com, seen a couple engines i couldnt find at walthers or tonys, and they had great prices on em. problem was i didnt know anyone that has bought from them. i am SO GLAD i asked you guys for help![^][:D] after reading your replies, i AM going to give them a try. again, THANK YOU ALL for your feedback![^][:D][:)]

I’ve ordered detail parts and trucks from them a few times and have received prompt, courteous service. They have a good website and sell below MSRP although Trainworld and Klein’s are cheaper.

DTO has the best prices i’ve seen for vehicles.

I’m also pretty happy. It takes them a while to get stuff, but once they ship, it’s usually here overnight. (I’m also in the LA area which helps.)

I also like that they have a flat $6 shipping fee so I usually wait and order a ton of stuff all at once so it all ships for the same low fee. You can’t beat the variety either. I ordered some scenery paint that was perfect for what I needed, ran out, went down to the Whistle Stop, my local train shop and they didn’t even carry the stuff. That and they were generally grumpy and my best efforts to be friendly and get a smile out of their clerk were wasted.

With DTO they’ve always been courteous and great customer service. It’s kinda sad when you get way better prices and better service from an internet company than your local hobby shop.

Best,

Rob
