I went by my local Wal-Mart this morning, into the clearance section of the Toy Department, and found the Street Whipz Ford and Dodge Vans, the ones with the funky decals on the sides, marked down to $1.00. Maybe the Wal-Mart near some of you has the same deal.
I bought a few. Stupid paint jobs on them though. (Easter Island stone heads[%-)]) They come apart pretty EZ with a Dremel tool and a drill bit. Bumpers come right off too for realistic painting.
I picked up four of these at my local WalMart, also. Look terrible with the paint job they have on them, but I’m sure that can be corrected.
John
unfortunately I havent found these at any of my Wallyworlds at all and I’m slightly upset but oh well. Trident will have to do I guess.
The Wally World in Newport RI has had them at a buck for quite awhile now. Got the last several Ford ones, but they have plenty of Dodges left. Went to the one in North Kinsgston this past weekend and scored the only four I saw in the entire toy department at 75 cents a pop. I’ve already stripped a couple of them for repaint - the paint on these guys is really thick but disassembly is really simple - just drill out one boss and the body comes off, another two and out comes the windows. The challenge is to strip them without losing the really neat “FORD” lettering on the grill. Should look neat on the auto distribution/unloading center I’m planning.
FWIW … if all you want to do is remove the ugly mural on the side, Testors liquid cement and some Q-tips will take it right off. The base color will not be affected at all … REALLY !!!
Mark.
