As a statistician, things like this raise my level of suspicion into low earth orbit.
Define ‘accident.’
What are the limits of the sample? U.S. only? Worldwide?
Where did the statistic come from, and what sources did the formulator cite? Remember, this came from a documentary that is obviously biased toward trucks.
3A. What is the comparable statistic for trucks, and why wasn’t it mentioned?
I’m sure that they define an accident as a derailment, person running across the tracks, chicken tripping as it runs away from thje train, etc…
