Dispute ends Berkshire Scenic excursion trains, museum remains open

The article clearly states that stakeholders have different views about which two entities are fighting. That obviously needs to be resolved.
Who funded the $3 for track maintenance? Are the taxpayers being hung out to dry?

Are there witnesses to this safety violation? Other evidence?

Housatonic has talked about passenger service north from Danbury, CT and maybe this somehow ties together? Seems a shame that what appears to be a good tourist operation through some great scenery has to fold.

Was Colin Pease a Boston and Maine,( Guilford/Pan Am) person??

Isn’t Pease a former Guilford exec?

It is sad that grown adults? can’t sit down at the table and talk and come to an agreement. This action make for a poor role model for others. It is sad. I hope they can eventually get back together and hammer out an acceptable agreement.

This is another sad day for excursion rails. The Berkshire Scenic was well respected in the area. In fact two weeks ago a resident of Lenox, MA & I had a phone conversation where she added that the Scenic is one of their favorite places to take people. The Finger Lakes Railway here in this region of NY State has a member of its board (represents controlling interest) that also is blocking most excursion now on it.

Is this the same Colin Pease who was EVP at Guilford? Did he switch jobs or has Guilford taken control of the Housatonic?

All federal funding for the Housatonic Railroad should be ended unless a very long term agreement (a 99 year lease perhaps) is reached with Berkshire Scenic Railroad for tourist line operation. Why should my tax dollars go to help a private railroad when they refuse to help out a non-profit tourist line.

Colin Pease…isn’t he one of the guys who ran Guilford into the ground in the 1980’s?? As I recall, not one of the rail industry’s visionaries.
