Hi, I have a Atlas GE DASH 8-40CW the Silver one, and the ditch lights and the front headlight flash when the locomotive is in reverse. It’s not constant just flashes whenever. Is it form dirty wheels/track?? Any Suggestions? -dekruif
Are you on DC or DCC?
If you’re on DC, it may have something to do with the fact that to blow the horn and flash the ditch lights, you need to flip the direction switch. Maybe when backing up, somehow the chip reads the current wrong and thinks your blowing the horn. Just a guess…
On DCC, perhaps one of your CVs are programmed wrong. Believe me this happens on it’s own! One of my friends Kato 9-44CWs headlight CV somehow got switched to MARS light, so we had no idea why the headlight was pulsating![:P]
Hope that might help.
It doesn’t have a decoder in it. I’m running it on DC.
Remove the shell and check to see if there are loose wires. Sounds like when engine is run in reverse there may be a loose or bare wire that may be making contact with motor frame that may be giving an intermittant jolt to the head light. Also wires may be run close together they are touching where the directional diodes are placed in the circuit. At least this would be a start. Ken
