Do brushless or 12-pole motors have a place

in 3-rail locomotive power?

They are not sized much differently than current motors and are being snapped up by R/C boating enthusiasts, esp. the slower tug boats, which require high torque.

My thinking is that these may offer several benefits including:

  1. Long life
  2. Less maintenance
  3. More torque
  4. smoother operations, esp. at low-end speeds

Your thoughts?

Dave,

I agree, these motors would be great in 3 rail locomotives.

I may purchase both types in the future and experiment, but right now, I’ve got a lot on my plate.
