Do you have a blog about model railroading?

Hi everyone!

I need inspiration and tips to create my first model railroad. I invite you to share your model railroad blog or any other blog you consider worth to follow. I am not talking about youtube channel, just blogs.

Thanks!

I’m beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

I have a frequently updated website, plus a YouTube channel with monthly layout progress updates. Links in my signature.

Model blogging, news, and historical/prototype information on the Algoma Central Railway (my chosen modeling subject)

I also have a page on modeling lumber loads, with a large archive of different company graphics that can be printed for use.

Mine likely won’t be helpful as it is more of a general modeling blog although the main focus is model railroading. Its mostly my musings on models and new additions to the roster, detailing projects, kit builds, reminiscing on why I got into the hobby and influences so no actual layout stuff yet (no permanent space yet). I’m kind of using it as an archive of thoughts that I can return to later to remember why I did something the way I did. Check the signature if you are interested!

As far as other blogs, I really like https://usmrr.blogspot.com/ I discovered Bernard Kempinski after reading his Model Railroads Go to War by Kalmbach. His blog has a lot of interesting modeling topics with a military railroading bent.

My contributions to these forums are the only place I share my model railroading, so this is as close as I get to a blog.

I don’t have a personal blog, but I’m the primary contributor to our Illinois Terminal Division blog that is here:

I’ve been trying to do a weekly update on what I’m up to, but I don’t always make it. Right now I’m also getting ready to start an every Wednesday evening ops and talk session (6 to 8pm, Central) on Zoom. I like to think of it as a video blog. Info on how to connect is in a post at the above link. We’ll be operating on my layout, as well as providing coverage on local modeling, layouts, and prototype action. It all kind of depends on who shows up, so expect things to be a little rough at first. I’m the host, editor, camera op and producer all at once.

I do have a personal model railroad blog I started a few months ago: https://yellowstoneroadmrr.blogspot.com/

I am sort of chronicling my way from a large layout through an interim layout to soon what I am working on now. I am glad I took a lot of photos along the way to share as I recreate this journey.

I hope to be adding smaller modeling projects after I publish what went on earlier.

One modeling blog that I regularily read is “Modeling the SP” by Tony Thompson: http://modelingthesp.blogspot.com/

A very well done, informative work.

Thanks everyone. I will check that

i’ve posted desrciptions of mostly arduino projects on gregc’s blog

Trackwork and Lineside Detail is just a collection of good articles. wouldn’t it be nice if there was a listing of good blog postings are various model railroading projects.

No blog, clog, dog, fog, grog, hog, jog, log, nog, tog, or wog, but there’s a bunch of how-tos and pictures to be found HERE, mostly in the Contests and Challenges section. You can browse for free, but if you want to do a search, I believe you have to join…it is free, and there are no ads.
