Plus i know railfaning should be a job. Wait its my after school job. Im railfan and photogragher.

If you ask me there is no such thing as railfanning TOO much.[8D]

[#wstupid][#ditto][swg][(-D][8D]From heaven to hell from east to west to the other side of the world YOU CAN NEVER RAILFAN TO MUCH!!!

NEVER!!! Of course, it’s hard not to be railfanning when Metra provides an ideal platform for railfanning for me twice a day.

Railfanning can also be classified as reading, watching videos or doing research. I enjoy reading and watching tapes that have a historical format to it–nothing current or modern. I also enjoy researching history of say how a rr line began in a town, accidents or derailments from the past. This is done by reading newspapers from yrs gone by on microfilm As for the typical railfanning trackside–not into it and doesn’t interest me.

If anything, I railfan way too little! But that’s because I don’t have a car, and I live nowhere near the tracks. But right when I turn 16, I’m taking a trip to a hotspot somewhere in say, Canada, eh? [8D]

Do i rail-fan too much; thats like asking if I breath to much>>>>[(-D][(-D][(-D][:O]>>>glennbob

Railfanning too much is like having oo many tools!

Local Hobby Shop

Nah. Only way anybody can railfan too much is if it interferes with the other stuff one is obligated to do. Like work, or pay attention to the spouse and kids.

and if that starts happening, bring the kids trackside!

All joking aside, I am really gratified to see how many railfans bring their kids along to the Rochelle Railroad Park. Our peculiar railfanning “virus” may not take, but there’s always the possibility that the kids will indeed grow up and have the background for getting an easy start on our fascinating and many-sided hobby. Or at least, they’ll know better than to believe the MYTH that trains are just a quaint relic and that freight trains are slowly dwindilng into obsolescence and/or are not important to the North American economy.

Last time I went to rochelle (also the first time) there was a large family there, with quite a few children that went ttally silent every time a train went by. That was pretty sweet. Just goes to show that these big hulking things are interesting, not slow and boring.

Well i saw it today UP 3300 the red white and blue today. it was great wish i had my camara.

I get up every Saturday at 6am and go shoot pics till about 10am. I don’t consder that too much. I get 60-100 pcs every Saturday. Living in Kansas City, if you know where to go, you never have to wait very long a all for a train! Heck, at the “Gooseneck”, traffic is always backed up by the time I make it there on Saturday morning. It NEVER lets up!
